A New Month

I'm late for the May NewFO Challenge.  Better late than never I say.

This month has been a busy one for us here at the new house.  Even though my blog is about quilting I have to share the progress on painting, decorating and raising chickens and grandkids.  With the occasional quilt thrown in.

So lets start with the decorating where the last of the purple went from this...

To this...
 To this.

I added a doll quilt on the little table up top.

My hubby made the cabinet a few years ago.  It was for canned goods and was great but we don't need it for that purpose now due to having a super big pantry so he adapted the cabinet to hold a television.

Chickens, chickens, chickens.
I got this antique cabinet from Craigs list a couple of years ago.
And who doesn't love a tree year around.  Right now it's a watermelon tree.  I did forget to turn on the lights for the picture though oops
Obviously my style is country, farmhouse style. And red and green are my favorite colors so is everything I have.

Now on to the little bit of quilting that got done in May.

This little quilt is for Leonie in Germany.  The challenge was to make a doll quilt in any shape except square or rectangle.  I hand quilted this one, don't look too close it's not perfect.

And I'm making a Buggy Barn quilt called Barn Chicks.  Since we have chickens now, I'll do a post later... I did the decorations in chickens and watermelons and this quilt will go on the wall in the dining room area.  I have most of the blocks done and will post again when I get it quilted and finished.  I do love homespuns and plaids too.
Well that's it for now.  I will try to keep up on blogging, there is so much to show and tell about with all the changes and challenges of living in a "new to us" home.
Hugs, Vickie

  1. Love the decor! Oh, I've always wanted to keep a skinny tree up all year, very cute. Looking forward to seeing more.

  5. You're really coming along with the painting and decorating. I love the shelf at the top of the wall. I miss the shelves I used to have, but we moved to a one story with no shelves because of my knees. Red and green are my favorites as well. Can't wait to see the next installment!

  6. I do accept as true with all the ideas you have presented to your post.

They are really convincing and can definitely work.
Still, the posts are too brief for newbies.
May you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time?
    Thanks for the post.
