It's finally my day for the Hexi Queen Blog Hop. Thanks to Madame Samm and Debby for hosting this fun blog hop. I like to try new things so here we go.
So I told my friend Sunny at Quilting Dreams that I had signed up for this hop and her advice was "Just do it!" Then she sent me this postcard. I love the cute little Hexi's she made and figured I could do it too so I went and bought some Hexi papers and the rest is history.

I was searching around in the sewing cottage to find inspiration and found this book
then turned to this page and I swear I could hear the light bulb turn on.
A few years ago I had participated in a couple of I spy block swaps which left me with 200 different 5 inch I spy blocks. So here is what I made. Perfect!
I quilted it with trucks and cars and plan to give it to my grandson who is 3, for Christmas this year.
click on the picture for a closer look
I also had a 10 inch layer cake of I spy blocks and made this little quilt for my youngest grand daughter who just turned 2, for Christmas.
A flowered pantograph designed seemed right for her.
Christmas sewing has begun only 6 more quilts to go I better get busy or join more blog hops...
The sewing room isn't complete without more pincushions so I made these using the traditional hexigon pattern sewn by hand.
And
I have had so much fun this month planning and preparing for this blog hop and have been very thankful to have been able to participate. Thanks again Madam Samm and Debby you are both Hexi Queen's in my book.
Be sure to go and visit the creative ladies at these blogs for today's Hexi Queen Blog Hop.

ReplyDeleteHi Vickie-Your hexie projects are awesome! I also like your Miss Lilly. Keep your sweet kitty inside as we had a white male who loved the sun but developed skin cancer in his ears. We eventually kept him inside although he was not happy but the cancer spread and we had to eventually put him down. We keep our 3 rescues inside now because they also stay healthier. Our orange tabby also crosses his paws like your Miss Lilly. He also uses his front paw to hold up his back paw when cleaning his feet-so unusual. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love your projects! I really need to do an I-spy quilt and hexies sound perfect!

ReplyDeleteOh, I must tell you my I Spy story:
ReplyDeleteTwo of my friends and I (many years ago) went shopping. We ended up at a fabric shop and decided we would all make the I Spy quilt. Each of us bought 7 fabrics (21 different fabrics total) that were perfect for fussy cuts. When we finished cutting it all out, we had enough left over for a 4th quilt. We threw the pieces into a paper sack, printed out only half of the directions with NO photos, and we gave it to another friend of ours. Guess who finished hers first???? Of course, the friend who got it all in a paper sack!
Love your projects! Thanks for having a give away!
Hiya Vickie!!! OH your grandkids are gonna love you at Christmas. Such lovely quilts!!! And those pincushions are just adorable, like little crowns. Thanks for sharing and having the giveaway. Blessed be, hugs!!! Pam
