Nice People Nice Things Wednesday

I'm stitching along with Kelly at Charming Chatter and a few other talented ladies on the Nice People Nice Things blocks and this week I chose to stitch Friends in honor of the many friends that have made such a difference in my life.

Friends are the family you choose.  I have so many wonderful friends that have really been such a help to me throughout my life.  And I've met some pretty awesome new friends from blogging, emailing and swaps.  I am very grateful for the friends in my life and hope to make many many more this year.

And speaking of friends... some of us got together today to do a "Make and Take".   We challenged each other to learn to do paper piecing.  Here is the result of a couple of days of work.  The pattern is Turning Pages and there is quite a bit of paper piecing in it.  I finished piecing the main quilt yesterday and today finished the piecing on the January block.  So I think I'm buzzing right along on the 2012 FO Challenge over at Cat Patches.    Got check it out you'll want to start it too.  Lets see what else can get started this month.  So far finishes zero, starts...2.

Now for backing, quilting, binding.  I'll post a picture when it's all done, I promise.
It's the time of year to choose a word that will be my focus this year.  This is the first time I've ever chosen a word but after thinking about it for a year and not being able to choose such a word...one word chose me...and the word is...RESTRAINT.  Restraint is something I am sorely lacking!  So far this week I've signed up for the 2012 FO Challenge, Block Swap Adventure, Another year of Schnibbles, Oh My Stars Quilt along, Autumn's Bounty BOM, to name a few.  I'm still doing the NPNT blocks each week and trying to finish up a mountain of projects in the sewing room.  To make matters worse I  need to refrain from using every Joann's coupon I receive.  As well as a number of other things I shouldn't do.  Yes ma'am Restraint is the right word for me. Wish me luck!

  1. yessirree, restraint has not been your friend this week! But that's okay, it's important to join many groups at the beginning of the year. You wouldn't want to run out of things to do, would you? I love your stitcheries. I need to find that book in the future.

  2. Having choices is always refreshing. I think variety in quilting/creating keeps things fresh and fun. Funny - a baggy of little snips and scraps from a student or friend makes me do the happy dance - not coupons or sales.

  3. Love your sweet friends block - and the paper piecing is beautiful. Love the word you chose too - restraint is a toughy with all of the fun things going on in blogland - and sew many pretty things to sew :)!
