A gift from the heart

My friend Connie lost her husband a couple of years ago.  She found this saying; I Can't Promise that I will be here for the rest of your life but I can Promise that I will love you for the rest of mine.   She wanted a pillow or something made with this saying.  I remembered that I still had some of Steve's (her husband's) shirts left over from some quilts I helped her make right after he died.  Each piece in this wall hanging is from his shirts.  There are so many things that can be made from the clothing of our loved ones.  I've seen teddy bears, pillows, memory quilts etc made from ties, shirts, jeans anything.  These hold such special memories for the family that is grieving.  It's hard to remember at this time of year that there are so many of us who are sad and missing the ones we love.  A special gift can be made with such a little effort but it will mean so much.   I challenge you quilters and sewers out there to remember a friend who has lost someone this year by making them a special memory gift.  You will be the one who is rewarded by the blessings you receive.

Paper piecing....not as easy as it looks, lol
